Alerta Sensaflex 4000 — Advanced Pressure Relief for Very-High-Risk Care
Overview
The Alerta Sensaflex 4000 is a purpose-built, very high risk profiling memory foam mattress that combines a high-density base, a resilient foam centre and a castellated gel memory foam surface. Designed to deliver targeted pressure redistribution, enhanced comfort and dependable clinical performance, the Sensaflex 4000 supports patients with limited mobility and those at heightened risk of pressure injuries.
Construction & Clinical Performance
The mattress features a robust high-density foam base for long-term structural stability, paired with a castellated gel memory foam top that conforms to body contours and disperses load across a broader surface. A strategically placed v-cut memory foam section increases internal air movement to reduce heat and moisture build-up — a crucial factor in pressure ulcer prevention.
Castellation plus the v-cut geometry work together to lower peak interface pressures at vulnerable sites such as the shoulders, hips and heels, while maintaining consistent support across profiling positions. The Sensaflex 4000 moves with the bed to reduce shear and maintain protective positioning during frequent adjustments.
Hygiene, Maintenance & Sterilisation
The mattress is fitted with a multi-stretch, vapour-permeable PU cover that is both water resistant and antimicrobial. The cover is machine washable — set the main wash to 65°C for at least 10 minutes or 95°C for at least 3 minutes for effective decontamination. The cover may be tumble dried on a low cycle with temperatures not exceeding 60°C. For maximum sterilisation, the internal foam is autoclavable at 134°C.
These maintenance features provide fast, reliable turnaround and help infection-control teams maintain rigorous cleaning protocols in busy healthcare environments.
Compliance & Safety
The Sensaflex 4000 complies with BS7177: Crib 5 fire safety standards, providing assurance for clinical purchasing teams and facility managers. The cover’s white underside offers a practical visual cue for caregivers to detect contamination or wear during routine checks, ensuring optimal hygiene and ongoing safety.
